Ivan Deseatnicov joined the Graduate School of Business Sciences at the University of Tsukuba in October 2016. He received his doctoral degree in Economics from Waseda University, Graduate School of Economics. Ivan improved his research expertise at the Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University during a postdoctoral fellowship.

His main research achievements are in the field of international trade. In particular, Ivan conducted research on Japanese multinational companies' (MNCs) outward foreign direct investment (FDI) activities. Currently he is involved in a number of research projects related to multinational companies, global value chain, and inter-country input-output analysis.

Prior to his academic career, Ivan worked as a regional coordinator at the European Software Institute Center Eastern Europe located in Sofia, Bulgaria. He took part in regional development initiatives and activities that provide quality services in software engineering, and transfer best practices of process management and business strategy to IT companies in the Eastern Europe ICT market.
