On January 25, 2025, I had the honor of speaking at the MBA-IB Speaker Series at the University of Tsukuba. My session was titled “Managing Business Startup” and consisted of a 90-minute lecture followed by a 30-minute Q&A session.
During the talk, I shared insights on a range of topics, including:I was deeply encouraged by the active engagement of the students, who listened attentively and asked thoughtful, enthusiastic questions throughout the session. Their curiosity and passion for entrepreneurship and career development were truly inspiring. Reflecting on my own journey and sharing it with current students was a meaningful experience. I hope that my story offered even a small piece of guidance or encouragement to those considering similar paths. I look forward to continuing my own challenges while staying connected with the MBA-IB community.

I participated in the 15th Conference on Transdisciplinary Science and Technology, held on December 14 (Sat) and 15 (Sun), 2024, at the Ookayama Campus of the Institute of Science Tokyo, where I delivered both an oral and a poster presentation.
The presentation, titled “Initiatives to Alleviate Patients' Self-Perceived Burden,” was co-authored by myself (Yuko Eguchi, Part-time Research Fellow) and Associate Professor Yasunobu Kino.
At the conference, I had the opportunity to engage in discussions with researchers from various disciplines and received valuable feedback. With these insights in mind, I will incorporate them into both my research and practical activities, striving to deliver greater value through my work.
As we bid farewell to three of our dear colleagues, Ono sensei and Xu sensei, who are retiring, and Kino sensei, who is embarking on a new and exciting chapter in his career, we are filled with a deep sense of gratitude and a touch of melancholy.
Working alongside all of you has been an incredible privilege, and on behalf of the faculty and students, we want to express our heartfelt thanks for your tireless dedication, passion, and the lasting impact you've had on all of us. Your contributions will always be cherished, and you will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
While it's hard to say goodbye, we are hopeful that our paths will cross again in the future. We wish you all the best in whatever comes next, and know that you will always be remembered with warmth and appreciation.

As a meaningful way to conclude 2024, a group of our students partnered with Habitat for Humanity through the Project HomeWorks (PHW) initiative and organised a donation drive.
PHW is designed to support older adults and individuals with mental or physical disabilities who struggle to maintain a safe and livable home environment. In many cases, their living conditions decline to a level where they can no longer manage the situation by themselves. To address this, volunteers step in to help restore these spaces to a secure and habitable state. Once the home is stabilised, ongoing maintenance is encouraged through collaboration between the homeowner and their social worker.
A heartfelt appreciation to Pavan (M1 student) for leading this initiative and to all M1 and M2 members for their dedication in researching and selecting the charity, as well as for their valuable ideas and contributions.

One of the highlights of the University of Tsukuba MBA-IB program is the opportunity to cross borders through education. As part of this initiative, we participated in the TSSP short-term study program at Shanghai University, located in China's tier-1 city, Shanghai. The two-week program was perfectly timed for M2 students, as it provided valuable insights into dissertation writing. Beyond academics, we built meaningful connections with Chinese students and exchanged cultural experiences.
Our learning extended beyond university walls, allowing us to immerse ourselves in China's rich culinary traditions, explore the operations of SMEs in Shanghai, and experience Suzhou—a city that beautifully blends tradition and modernity. We are deeply grateful to the University of Tsukuba for supporting us in this indispensable learning opportunity.

2024年9月16日～20日、1年生および2年生のグループはイタリア各地の組織や機関を訪問し、それぞれの業界に影響を与える課題について調査しました。
この訪問の中で学生たちは優れた見識を得、MBA-IBコースで習得した知識を応用した独自の研究結果を発表しました。Safiloでは、サステナビリティがP&Lに与える影響から導き出した提案を、Save the Duck Japanでは、各場面での顧客体験価値を評価し、顧客満足度と顧客ロイヤリティを高めるための提案を行いました。Treedomでは、BtoB分野における間接的競合他社の戦略分析を行い、ベストプラクティスを比較検討しました。また、MUFGミラノでは本質を突いたセッションを行い、イタリアのESG分野での成功事例と課題を共有しました。
学生たちにこのような素晴らしい機会を提供してくださったSafilo、Treedom、Save the Duck、およびMUFGミラノに心から感謝申し上げます。

文科省の支援の下、早稲田大学が主催して行う、筑波大学を含むGTIE（Greater Tokyo Innovation Ecosystem）加盟大学を対象とした選抜型研修です。国際水準の起業スキルを身に付け、海外のスタートアップ企業、若手起業家、ベンチャーキャピタル（VC）、先端技術を持つ大学等とのネットワークを構築する機会を、国内でのブートキャンプや、メルボルンの現地研修を通じて提供するプログラム構成となっています。
2024年3月3日～3月9日（研修は3/4～3/8の5日間）の期間、グローバルなビジネス展開を目指す若手起業家及びその予備軍となる学生起業家４名が、メルボルンビジネススクールでの研修に参加しました。スタートアップ企業の創業者としても経験豊富な講師陣から、実践形式の授業を受けました。彼らは非常に巻き込み力に優れており、全ての講義から新たな学びがありました。
また、現地スタートアップ企業の創業者を招き、毎回一緒にランチをしながら親睦を深め、起業に重要な話を、直接できたことも貴重でした。講義の後には市内を散策し、メルボルンの魅力を味わう事も出来ました。そして、沢山の方々のご協力によって、領事館、アクセラレーター、研究所を訪問し、有意義な議論を行わせて頂きました。
最終日には、現地VCの方々の前で発表し、有益なフィードバックを得たことも、今後役に立つ経験となりました。
"小さなWin"を意識し、それを達成し続ける事の重要性が、本研修で最も影響を得た教訓でした。私達は、社会や職場、学校といった、ありとあらゆる場面で、常に結果を求められます。成果だけが賞賛され、成果を出せなかった場合の過程は見過ごされがちです。しかし、どんなに小さなことでも、自分がやると決めてそれを達成できたのであれば、十分に価値があるという事に、改めて気付かされました。日々の“小さなWin”の蓄積が、やがて大きな成功に結び付く礎になるという事を。
メルボルンの、起業に対する支援の手厚さや、人の寛大さ、街の美しさなど、どれをとっても一生忘れられない、本当に素敵な1週間を過ごさせて頂きました。本プログラムに参加させて頂いた事、関係する皆様に感謝申し上げます。

ジェトロ初となる学生向け起業家育成・海外派遣プログラムが開催されました。全国から選抜された30名の学生が、起業の最先端の地、シリコンバレーでの交流や実践を通じてグローバルに活躍する起業家を目指して参加しました。本プログラムは、日本にグローバルなスタートアップ・エコシステムを構築し、世界で勝てるスタートアップを創出するため、スタートアップ育成5か年計画に掲載された「5年で1000人規模」の起業人材の海外派遣を達成することを目的とした経済産業省主催の「J-StarX」プログラムの一環です。
2023年9月18日～9月25日（研修は9/18～9/23の6日間）の期間、シリコンバレー在住の日本人起業家やエンジニア、GAFA出身者による講演、 デザインシンキングに関するワークショップに参加しました。高等学校・高等専門学校・大学・大学院の学生が参加しており、年齢も専門性も異なる中、お互いの関心や専門領域に関する知見を交換しながら、交流を深め、今後の起業に必要なネットワーク形成や思考の習得に努めました。
特に役に立ったのは、アメリカ合衆国 カリフォルニア州に本拠を置くデザインコンサルタント会社IDEOでの、3日間にわたるデザインシンキングの研修です。ユーザーインタビューから始め、アイデアの発散と収束をチームメンバーで行い、実際にプロトタイプ作成をし、フィードバックに基づいた改良までの一連のフローを実践しました。参加前は、アイデアの段階であった事業計画が、プログラムで学んだことを活かして、具体性を持った試作品として、形にすることができました。
現地の起業家との対話の中で、事業を行う上で、"自身の健康維持"、"学び続ける事"、"お互いがGiveし合えるネットワーク形成"の重要性を認識しました。本プログラムで得た学びと、培われた人間関係を大切にし、今後の社会貢献につなげていきたいと思います。
